Brendan Fitzgerald, Chairman
Having graduated as a Civil Engineer in U.C.C., Brendan obtained his Masters Degree in Birmingham University U.K. and then completed the IMI Business Management Program. Brendan worked for CIE in various managerial positions including General Manager of Dublin Bus. Joined Readymix plc in 1980 was appointed to the Board in 1990 and served in a number of key positions including Managing Director for the Republic of Ireland and Group Development Director.
Since retiring from Readymix plc in 2008, Brendan′s role within the Broadmeadow Healthcare group has been to provide strategic vision and committed leadership and to spearhead the group′s planned growth into the coming years. -
Francis Whelan, Chief Executive
Francis Whelan C.E.O. and Managing Director of Broadmeadow Healthcare Limited and Kilbrew Recuperation & Nursing Care Ltd. Francis is an Architect by profession and a member of the Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland. He has been responsible for the research, design and philosophy at Kilbrew Demesne and has been at the forefront of innovation in terms of the latest models and standards in dementia care, creation of relaxing and peaceful environments for senior care facilities.
The cutting edge approach in terms of nursing care design, spearheaded by Francis, resulted in Kilbrew Demesne winning the Local Authorities Managers Award for best Nursing Care Facility in Ireland and also best New Business Award.
Francis was also President of Fingal Chamber of Commerce in 2007 and 2008. In 2009 Francis won the coveted Chambers Ireland Award for corporate responsibility for the work of his Architectural practice, Whelan Corcoran Smith in South Africa and Niger, providing design services for anti-retroviral clinics, a fistula hospital and operating theatres. -
Helena Moore, Director of Care
Helena Moore has been involved in Healthcare provision for many years. Helena is responsible for Quality Assurance in terms of healthcare, clinical governance and HIQA compliance and also provides training and advisory services to other nursing home operators through the National College of Healthcare Education of which Helena is a Director. Helena is also Nursing Director at Kilbrew Recuperation and Nursing Care Ltd.
Through her interaction with the statutory bodies associated with providing care for older people Helena has taken an interest in the design and management processes associated with setting up and managing new and existing nursing care facilities. She is committed to enhancing the experience of all those involved in the provision of care from providers to recipients.
Helena Moore is a Registered General Nurse and holds a Diploma in Nursing Studies, Bachelor of Nursing Science, Graduate Diploma in Nursing Practice, Certificate in Health Care Management, Certificate in Gerontology, Facilitator of training in Dementia Care and Elder Abuse and is also a teacher of English as a Foreign Language. -
Professor Martin Corbally, Clinical Consultant
Professor Martin Corbally: MB., BCh., BAO., MCh., FRCSI., FRCSEd., FRCS (Paed Surg) Associate Professor in Paediatric Surgery: RCSI, is a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, Paediatric Surgical Oncologist at Our Lady′s Children′s Hospital Crumlin and is an Associate Professor to the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Professor Corbally is also currently Chief of Staff to Bahrain′s King Hamad University Hospital. He is also Professor and Chair of the
Department of Surgery at the R.C.S.I. Medical University of Bahrain.
Martin advises the board in Clinical Governance, Care Provision and guidance to our Clinical Care team led by Helena Moore. -
Liam Byrne, Operations Director
Founding partner of Abacus Finance, providing a full range of Financial Services to both Private and Corporate clients. Liam brings a wealth of banking experience, having spent many years with A.I.B. plc and then First Active. Liam specialised in the A-Z of personal finance with a penchant for providing financial solutions.
Liam′s specialised financial knowledge and expertise is key to the group′s Facilities Development Strategy and financial planning. He also brings significant skills is assisting our team to facilitate families through the Fair Deal process and the difficult financial implications when entering nursing home care. -
Jorn Jessen, Project Consultant
Jorn came to Ireland in 1990, where he worked for one of the largest Danish banks in the International Financial Services Centre as General Manager. While working in the IFSC he developed a number of contacts in Ireland which when the Danish operation ceased in 1995 led to his involvement as a consultant on a number of larger projects in the property and media business.
He joined Ulster Bank in 2002 as Wealth Manager and is currently working with the Bank′s Project Management team in Corporate Markets.
Jorn′s general financial, project management skills and expertise will help develop Broadmeadow Healthcare Management Services.
